I am a self-taught amateur photographer from Bucharest, Romania, born in 1979. By the age of 15 I started to take pictures with a 35mm film camera, received as a well-deserved present from my dad. The first and only photo lesson I received it was from a dear photojournalist and it was about the settings of the camera, so called the basics of photography.
I feel driven by the emotion projected by the people I see and I just love to take pictures that move the heart and generate emotions, and learn how to see things in a different way from the urban jungle of cities, the people living there, the crucial moments and the endless trips through the streets and places are stirring my desire to capture moments. I feel there is an intimacy with my shots and I’m almost breaking into personal space for a millisecond in time. Unlike a lot of photographers, eye contact is really important to me and I won’t pull away when they turn and face the camera.
My street photography reflects the great love for people and life in general as well as the fascination for the street. I love to show people in the urban environment in strong compositions and trying to make the ordinary extraordinary and finding beauty within ugliness. My photos don't tell complete stories, but rather act as poems do, to activate the viewer's mind to fill in the story for themselves. My passion for photography centers mostly on the un-posed and un-staged, candid and spontaneous.
I may say that I’m attracted by the originality – if it is something that I haven’t seen before, I hope it will be a subject that will intrigue other people.
